The Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center project involved electrical infrastructure and facility modernization work within the active healthcare campus located in Terra Linda in San Rafael, California. The project was performed within an occupied hospital and medical office environment requiring careful coordination with hospital operations, life-safety systems, and ongoing patient care activities. Work was executed under strict healthcare construction protocols designed to minimize disruptions to active medical services while maintaining continuous operation of critical hospital infrastructure.
TAFT Electric’s scope included installation and modification of electrical distribution systems supporting facility upgrades and infrastructure improvements throughout the campus. Electrical work included new branch circuitry, feeder modifications, panelboard and distribution upgrades, conduit and pathway installation, lighting systems, and integration with existing hospital electrical infrastructure. Due to the operational nature of the facility, construction activities required phased scheduling, temporary power coordination, and careful shutdown planning to maintain uninterrupted support for critical medical and life-safety systems.
Additional scope included support infrastructure for low-voltage systems, communications pathways, and coordination with hospital engineering teams and multiple trades within a highly regulated healthcare environment. Work was performed in compliance with healthcare facility requirements and infection control procedures typical of active hospital construction environments. The completed improvements supported modernization of the medical campus while maintaining operational continuity within the active Kaiser Permanente healthcare facility.
